Important Announcement:
Due to some personal life events, Las Vegas Labrador Rescue is currently CLOSED.
We will not be taking in any new dogs starting September 1st, 2008. As of right now, this is indefinite.
However, we still want to help those of you in the Las Vegas area (well, and others as well!) find that perfect Labrador to add to your family. In attempt to do that, we are going to courtesy list Labs in need for shelters/groups we have worked with over the last few years.. and if it seems to work out, we will continue to list them on our Petfinder site at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/NV84.html.
If it doesn't seem to work that way, we will stop doing that, and in that case, would like everyone to have their links directly, so you can be sure to check their sites out as well.
Below is a list of rescue/shelters that we have over the last 3 years worked directly with and feel very strongly about the kind of rescue work they do. Please contact them - they are always there to help!
Fredonia Humane Society - http://www.network.bestfriends.com/fhs/news/
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary - www.bestfriends.org
St George Animal Shelter - http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/UT20.html
Below are a list of our local shelter (which is a kill shelter, so please go IN to the shelter to look!) and other rescues (all breed) in the Las Vegas area that you should check out as well.

We still greatly appreciate and enjoy updates on your adopted LVLR dogs, so please continue to send them, but only to the email address: lasvegaslabradorrescue@gmail.com - I will be sure to forward them on to the foster home/shelter that helped with the dog. We will still do dog park outings and such - probably more in the cooler months, so please do keep in touch. If you ever have any questions about training, nutrition, health.. etc with your Labrador, PLEASE do email us. The email account set up for this will be checked as often as I am able. The other email address associated with the rescue will be discontinued as of October 1st, 2008 - so please, if you need to get in touch with me personally, do so before then - and if not, if it has to do with the rescue, please email the gmail account above.
I want to end this by saying a HUGE thanks to every single person that has adopted a dog from us. You guys have made a difference in those dogs' lives and we are grateful you found our group. I also want to say thank you to EVERY person who helped make LVLR a success - people from Kathy in New York and Tammy in Texas, who helped get us up and running from the very beginning.. to people who I have met and know I will forever have a friendship with like Lori in Arizona. Every single person who has fostered for us, regardless of how/when that stopped, I cannot thank you enough for being a part of us at any point. To anyone who has ever donated to us, you have not only made a HUGE difference in the dogs' lives... but also the families that adopted them.
Thank you to every business, trainer or
vet that has helped us over the last three years - your donations, advice and
help have NOT gone unappreciated and we thank you for your support. We will be
sure to still send business your way.
PLEASE consider getting involved in some training/bonding experience with your dogs. The Las Vegas Dock Dogs club is FINALLY here, which means the sport of dock diving is HERE in Vegas! www.lasvegasdockdogs.com - if you're dog likes the water or to play fetch.. or even if you just want a fun way to get your dog out and about.. CONSIDER attending a practice to see if its for you.
Another great sport/fun training experience is agility. Mary Kay at Smarty Paws is an amazing trainer and will help strengthen that bond with your dog. She also offers obedience, rally and hydrotherapy, so definitely visit her at www.smartypaws.com
A HUGE influence on my (Lisa's) life lately is Lianne and Fred of Sit Means Sit dog training. If you are having behavioral problems or just want to do some basic obedience, please consider checking them out at www.sitmeanssit.com. The difference you will see in your dog is just incredible.
Also.. anybody who has adopted from us, knows how passionate we are about canine nutrition. We still very much want to help if you have any nutrition questions - so definitely email us. We will still have RAW diet question and answer sessions, as well as help in anyway we can. If you are interested in starting a RAW diet, please email Suzanne DiCiaccio at rahrawrahpetfood@aol.com. (or you can email us!) Suzanne is a distributor of Omas Pride pet food (www.omaspride.com) and will also gladly help get you started.
Lastly, please continue to support these businesses, as they have made it a point to support us over the last three years.

Thanks again - and if any changes happen, I will revise this site, but if not, please continue to help the Labrador breed in anyway you can - but especially by helping pass along the knowledge and information you have obtained by adopting and the importance of responsible pet ownership.
Good luck!
