Angus is a gorgeous boy who had been through
too much for his young age.
He was given up on because his mom developed an
"allergy" to him. He was passed on to
a family that was not a good fit for him, and not the
least bit compassionate. He ended up at the shelter
because of irresponsible dog owners just passing
him off to the next one. Along that journey he
somehow ingested a sock, and had to undergo intensive
surgery.
It was a good 2 months
before he fully recovered from that surgery, but he
would soon realize it was all worth the wait. He was
then neutered and adopted out to a wonderful guy who is
in the air force. Unfortunately for Angus, two months
after being adopted to this guy, his job at the base
changed and his hours were doubled. Being single, there
was nobody at home to care for Angus and with his long
hours, he was going to have to be kenneled for 12+ hours
a day 5-6 days a week. He made the very hard, but right
decision - and contacted us to re-home him.
Tracey and John had seen
Angus months before when he was listed, but
unfortunately were not moved into their new house. As
luck would have it, they were all moved in and settled
and a few days later, Angus was on a flight to Canada!
The following is what they wrote of their experience
with adopting sweet Angus.. aka Gussy!
John
and I had wanted to adopt a dog to add to our family for
quite some time. Hudson, our chocolate lab, was such a
joy to our lives that we always saw ourselves adopting
another dog. We both looked at LVLR’s website over and
over to see all of the available labs and one day we saw
Angus on the Lab Board and we both fell in love with his
big eyes…at the time we knew that we could not have
another dog because we were living in a place that would
only allow one, but we both decided that he was exactly
what we were looking for. A happy, energetic, young
yellow lab…he just sounded like he would “fit” so well.
We continued to follow his story and saw that he was
adopted by a single man and even though that meant there
was no hope for us we were very happy to see that he
found a home.
A few months later we moved
into a bigger home that would allow us to have more than
one dog so we actively started looking for dog #2 and
contacted Lisa to tell her that we were ready to add to
our family. After looking through petfinder and looking
at our local shelter we didn’t really see a dog that
jumped out at us, but we were still hoping that a young
lab would come along. All of a sudden we got an e-mail
from Lisa saying that Angus might need another home due
to his owner’s change in work schedule, and she asked if
we would be interested! I let out a huge squeal and
felt as though fate was working for me, and that this
was obviously meant to be…We were 100% sure that we
wanted to add him to our family.
After a lot of e-mails and
phone calls we were all set to fly him from Las Vegas to
Canada but it turned out his crate size was too small
for an international flight so we had to postpone his
trip for a few more days. It seemed as though we had
already waited forever for Angus to join our family so a
few more days were certainly not going to get in our way
Angus arrived in Calgary
after a very long flight with an overnight stay in Texas
due to bad weather. We introduced Hudson and Angus in
the park and it was love at first sight. They play and
argue over toys and it has been like they were meant to
be brothers all along. Angus has become very attached
to John and in turn John has become very attached to
Angus. He even sleeps on our bed and cuddles right in
between the two of us!
We cannot believe that
Angus has been to so many different homes, an animal
shelter, and has been through extreme health issues and
he is only 14 months old! We have told him that he is
in his forever home and from the kisses and smiles we
get I think that he knows!
Angus in his foster home,
happy boy!

At an adoption event with us.
