Ciara's Story
On
February 13th, LVLR saved Ciara from a confirmed
euthanasia date. A volunteer living in the area drove to
another town in Illinois to pull her from this high kill
shelter. She welcomed her into her home for ten days and
got her healthy and ready for her flight out to Las
Vegas. We picked up Ciara from the airport on February
23rd and only had her for 4 days before placing her with
her forever family. The following story was written by
Becky and Lenny, of their experience with Ciara.
My husband and I got Zoe, our first dog
together in June 2004. By the time Zoe was 8 months old
we knew we needed another dog – as a companion for her
but also for us. Since I was a member of the Lab Board,
I kept a watchful eye out for the perfect rescue. Soon
enough, along came Ciara – she was soooo cute and
everything we were looking for – a female, the right age
(we didn’t want a small puppy), UTD on shots, was
getting spayed, and was right here in town! I PM’d Lisa
and we set up a meeting. We met with Lisa, Brenda, and
Ciara on February 27, and Ciara stole our hearts and
came home with us that day.
A month later, we seriously have to say that we have
absolutely NO regrets in bringing Ciara into our lives.
We are overjoyed with her. She is so loving and an
absolute doll. Zoe is beyond happy at having a sister
and they love to wrestle and play together. There is
nothing girly-girl about either of them. They are
definitely “The Rough and Tumble Twosome.” Most
importantly, Ciara is healthy, happy, and alive!
