This beautiful girl was abandoned at a local vets office. Her family decided they couldn't take care of her anymore and left her at the vet. This vet Las Vegas Labrador Rescue early in April to see if we had room for this sweet girl.

Once we had a space open in our foster home, we went and picked her up. Trish had been emailing with us contemplating adding a second dog and about a week later gave us the 100% yes.

Dakota stayed with her foster mom, Jill for about 3 weeks before beginning the road trip home to Northern Idaho.

Below is the story Trish have written about their experience with LVLR and adopting sweet Koda.

After losing my Black Lab Kinza to a cancerous brain tumor I knew I had to contact Lisa and ask her to keep her eyes open for a Black female.  As fate would have it Lisa had been contacted by a local vet about a 1.5 yo owner surrender named Dakota.  This was very soon after losing Kinza and I didn’t know if I was ready yet.  I e-mailed back and forth with Lisa for days yet at the same time knew in my heart that Dakota was the one.

Finally I decided to do what my heart was telling me and give Lisa a 100% yes I wanted to adopt Dakota.  Then the fun began, how do we get her from Las Vegas to Idaho.  I checked into flights and contacted a fellow Lab Board member, Susan, to see if she could arrange a ground transport.  Within 2 days ground transport was arranged and Dakota would be coming home.  Now the long wait began.  Dakota would start her road trip home 2 weeks after the decision to adopt her and get the transport arranged.

Dakota traveled for 2 days before I was finally able to meet the last leg of the transport and put my arms around her.

I am so glad to have this sweet girl in my life and very thankful to Lisa for finding this sweet girl.  She has adjusted well to her new home as witnessed by her first day in “her” swimming pool.

A rescue dog is a wonderful animal.  They know they have been saved and given the life they deserved to live.  Not a day will go by that I will not be thankful for Dakota.

Lisa, thank you so much for doing what you do.  Without people like you abandoned and forgotten animals would not be given a second chance
