Dozer was a litter of six found dumped on the side of the road at just two months of age. A shelter in Utah saved them and sadly, three of the six died. Dozer and one brother and one sister (Kiara, please see her happy tail on the main page) lived through parvo, worms and all sorts of other issues and after three months of total nourishment by this shelter, they became three healthy, very happy pups!

Dozer and Kiara were brought down to Las Vegas one weekend late February and it was love at first sight for a great friend of mine, Karen. Karen was visiting from Canada and of course she got some pictures while she was here. She went home and spoke of Dozer to her good friend, Andrea, who just fell head over heels in love with this boy! It took a few weeks to get things in order for him to fly up there, but the last Monday in March, Doze officially became a Canadian citizen.

Andrea has written the following on her experience with adopting Dozer.

My friend, Karen, went to Las Vegas for the weekend.  When she came home she told me about these black Lab pups that came to Lisa's LVLR from a shelter in Utah.  I was so intrigued with the story of these poor babies and what happened to their litter that I immediately went to the Lab Board and checked out the pictures of the male, Dozer, he was the guy that was tugging at my heart-strings.  His sister, Kiara, was going home with Vic, who was also at Lisa's for the weekend.

While I knew I wanted Dozer I didn't know how to let my husband know how I felt because he didn't really want a second dog.  We had Cosmo, our chocolate Lab boy, and he was happy with just him.  So, I inquired about him and thought I was too late, because surely this beautiful boy would not be available for long!  To my surprise he was still available for adoption...now, how to tell my husband I want this boy to be ours.  After several days of talking with my reluctant, but patient, husband...he said, "just go ahead and get him!"

Lisa and I had many emails and conversations about Dozer and how to get him from Las Vegas to Vancouver.  It sure wasn't very hard to get the transport all organized (a little more work on Lisa's end), it was as easy as a phone call.  The hard part was that we were leaving for vacation with our family for one week and wouldn't be able to fly Dozer home until March 27.  He's all I thought about while we were away, and although we enjoyed our vacation, I just wanted to come home and get my boy!  On the day of his arrival it was high excitement!  My two close friends were coming with me to pick Dozer up at the airport cargo, it was late in the evening, as his flight had been delayed twice.  When we saw the truck coming with his crate in the back I was jumping up and down, clapping my hands and grinning from ear to ear.  Karen was there to take the pictures...capturing each happy moment.  Sharon, my get-the-job-done friend, drove my truck around (so we didn't have to pay for parking) while I ran around the airport getting paperwork stamped.  I couldn't think straight so these two ladies helped me immensely!

I finally had Dozer in my arms and it was a very cuddly ride home with his head in my lap.  At midnight we arrived at my house and brought him into the yard to meet his brother, Cosmo.  They behaved as if they were long lost brothers.  Then, into each of my kids' rooms to give kisses and introductions.  Last, but certainly not least, time to meet Daddy...it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!  My skeptical husband was completely taken by this big, black, sucky Lab and there has been no looking back.

Dozer fits perfectly into our family and has been an absolute joy for all of us.  He was, without a doubt, meant for us.  Thanks to Lisa at LVLR, Dozer's foster Mom, Erin, and my friend, Karen, Dozer is in his forever home.
