Princess was saved from being put to sleep, by Las Vegas Labrador Rescue with the help of a shelter in Arkansas. Since we were so far away, they helped us arrange transport to get Princess to a volunteer in Texas. Immediately she was welcomed with open arms (Lucky, another LVLR Happy Tail was with her).

Her new foster home noticed her itching really bad, so they decided to take her to the vet. Come to find out, Princess has worms and mange! It was very hard to do, but she had to stay in isolation (at the vets office) for almost 3 weeks to get better!

Once she was out, she returned home to her foster family, shiny and new! They were able to love on her and spoil her rotten for about a week, until her transport came up.

A lot of volunteers pooled together to get Princess from Texas to Las Vegas, and every single person that helped wanted to keep her! Lucky for her new family, they had filled out an application about a month prior to that and were anxiously awaiting her arrival.

It was love at first sight for Josh and Beth - they took her home the very next day. Now renamed Gracie, she is doing wonderfully and finally has the chance at life she deserved! Here is what her new family had to say about her adoption.

My husband and I have wanted a dog for several years, but the timing had never seemed right. We knew we wanted a Lab puppy, but figured we didn’t have enough time to train a dog or spend ample time with one. A few months ago I was talking with a co-worker who had adopted several dogs from Perfinder.com. We thought we might look and just see what the process of adoption was. That is when we came across LVLR’s website. As soon as we saw our Gracie, (the dog formerly known as “Princess”) we fell in love with her. We knew immediately that rescuing her was perfect for us. She was housebroken and crate trained, and we could spend lots of time with her since our schedules in the spring are pretty open.

After many weeks of waiting due to some health issues and travel problems, Gracie finally arrived in Las Vegas February 20; although it sounded like everyone that helped transport her from Arkansas to Vegas wanted to keep her! And who wouldn’t…she is perfect! Gracie seemed a little weary the first few hours, but I think once she figured out that this was her ‘forever’ home, she settled right in. Gracie is the most lovable dog I’ve ever seen. She is so quiet and sweet, but loves to play with us and other dogs, especially at the dog park or on walks. Gracie is also great with our 3-year-old niece and the neighborhood kids who all want to pet her. Gracie’s favorite thing is to roll on her back and have her belly rubbed. When she’s at home she just cuddles up with us no matter where we are. She has definitely made herself at home.

We’ve taken Gracie on a few outings, like hiking in Red Rock and to the Bark in the Park. She loves being around other dogs, and just walks around checking everyone out. She never barks, growls, or is aggressive toward other dogs or people. We’re in our second week of obedience training, where Gracie is the star pupil, of course. She masters all the commands easily and quickly, and sits quietly with us while the other dogs are barking and jumping. We just couldn’t be happier with her.

We are so thankful to LVLR for giving us the opportunity to have Gracie in our lives. She is the perfect addition to our family, and we’ll continue to look on the LVLR website when we’re ready to give Gracie a new brother or sister.
