Heidi's Story
This beautiful
girl was a stray found and brought to a shelter in Utah.
She was scheduled to be PTS, when we stepped in and
pulled her.
A good
friend of the rescue's, Carrie, who currently owns a
yellow lab, knew her mom had been wanting to rescue
another dog. As soon as we brought her down from Utah,
Carrie fostered her. Her mom was coming to visit that
weekend.
It was love
at first sight for her mom and the following week, Heidi
took the drive home to her new home in Idaho. Heidi now
has a ton of land to run on, lots of wildlife to chase
and is soaking up the love from her new parents.
Heidi's new
mom has written the following about Heidi.
Just wanted to let you know how Heidi is doing.
She is such a blessing for us. She is a sweet
girl. She doesn't bother our cat but likes to
chase the stray cat that comes around. She
barks to come in after she goes outside, but
still doesn't bark when the door bell rings.
She goes to the right door, either back or
front, but doesn't bark yet. She sits, stays
pretty good (we're working on that), and has
never messed in the house. She likes to go for
a ride with us but doesn't like the leash. We
are working on that too. She is a lot better on
putting her collar on. She used to wriggle and
fight it. With patience and treats and taking
it off and on a lot, she has gotten better. It
is just taking time and we don't mind that
because she learns very fast and she is so
loveable. She has 2 beds in the house. One in
the living room and one by my side of the bed.
She goes in and out of her crate and lays down
in it and goes to sleep when we eat dinner or
doing stuff in the kitchen. We put her in the
crate with toys and treats when we have to leave
her. She is such a loveable dog. She likes the
calves. When we feed them she goes to everyone
of them and licks them. They like her too.
When we clean the pens and have the calves in
the corral, she runs along side the fence, cause
she wants to be with them. I don't let her in
with them cause she could get kicked. They lay
down on the other side of the fence and she lays
by them. I don't know how to thank you for
saving her for me. She is Don's and my buddy.
When I go to work she looks out the window till
I go out of sight. Don says she lets him know
when I drive in the driveway. If they are
outside, he knows I'm home cause she starts
running back and forth to each gate. Anyway I
would send you pictures but I can't seem to do
all the steps to e-mail them. I'm working on
it. I did it once to Carrie, but somehow I am
missing something I should do. I just wanted to
let you know Heidi is well and happy and so are
we!!
