Kiara's Story -
Kiara
was a litter of six found dumped on the side of the
road at just two months of age. A shelter in Utah
saved them and sadly, three of the six died. Kiara
and two of her brothers lived through parvo, worms
and all sorts of other issues and after three months
of total nourishment by this shelter, they because
three healthy, very happy pups!
Kiara
and her brother Dozer (See his happy tail on our
main page) were brought down to Las Vegas one
weekend late February and it was love at first sight
for Victoria. Victoria also adopted Lexi (See her
happy tail on our main page as well) so Kiara got to
stay in our little family. Below is what Victoria
wrote of her experience with adopting little Kiara.
We
weren't really looking to get another dog. Our Kiko
had passed away in January 2006 and we were still
missing her. BUT one day as I surfed the Lab Chat
Board Lisa posted pictures of these adorable babies
in a shelter in Utah soon to come to Las Vegas. Of
course I thought no way. We have Lexi and Spartacus
and that is plenty and there is no way Steve would
go for a third dog! But I couldn't get them out of
my mind and showed their pictures to my poor
husband. He only said "those are good looking dogs".
Hmmmm it wasn't a "no way!" or a "no more dogs
... two is enough". Well I show the pictures to the
kids and of course they started begging for a black
puppy to complete our variety pack.
I went
to Vegas for the weekend and Lori brought the
puppies down from Utah Sunday morning before I
left for home in CA. I'm telling you that when those
two puppies came tumbling out of Lori's van I fell
so deeply and head over heels in love within
seconds! They were just so happy go lucky. I made my
decision and headed home that day, February 26,
2006, with Kiara the little girl. Needless to say
my three children were ecstatic and my dear Hubby
was in Chicago so ... :) but he heard the news and
really took it very well. He knew deep down in his
heart I was going to bring one home!
Kiara
did so well from the first moment in our home.
Within a day the three of them were curled up
together sleeping and I just felt this overwhelming
sense of joy and contentment looking at them.
When Steve got home from Chicago Kiara had him
wrapped around her paw within minutes! The next day
I find him cuddling her and telling her how cute she
is and I knew we had made the right decision!
She is
the cutest thing. Lexi showed her how to open the
back door and she learned that within two days but Kiara takes
it a step further and opens the doors to
everybody's bedrooms in the morning, jumps on the
bed and greets you with lots of kisses and clomping
around on your head with those big 'ol paws. ;) She
is so clumsy and doofus like that you find yourself
always smiling or laughing and she is SO hard to get
mad at! She can be naughty (no really) and I can
hardly discipline her. It just kills me how she
looks at me!
Kiara has
a pet rock, 55 pounds of body slams when she is so
happy to see you, is learning to walk on a leash,
sleeps in her food bowl, loves to cuddle with her
sister and brother, follows her mommy all over the
house, adores her daddy, plays non-stop with her sis
Lexi and respects her big bro Spart (but he is
starting to loosen up a little and play), three
human kids to kiss and play with plus lots of
neighbor kids too, a pool for HOT summer days ...
this is Kiara's life.
She is
one happy girl and we are one delighted family to
have Kiara in our lives! Thank you Lori for nursing
these babies back to health and Lisa for making this
all possible.
We have
two precious girls from LVLR now!
