Sometime towards the end of May, we got an email
from a woman who had just taken on a family members
dogs. The family member was moving across country
and didn't feel it was necessary to take them with
(Keep in mind, their dogs were 7 and 13!) and yes,
they had had them just about their whole life. (To
add insult to injury, they had kept these poor dogs
outside all day, everyday, all 365 days of the year.
YES, in the Vegas heat.)
Luckily for Miss Molly, this family member also was
related to Rebecca. Rebecca took her in, took her to
the vet, got her nails clipped and showed her the
first real affection she had seen from humans. She
had her for a few days, but knew due to her living
situation and with the pets she already had, she
just couldn't keep her. She emailed us and a couple
days later, we went and picked her up.
She
spent about a month in our Foster home- and even
went to a Petsmart Adoption Day with us. We had a
lot of interested parties, but nobody ever followed
through. Then one weekend, we got an email from
Angela, a woman in California, that had been keeping
an eye on her on our website. About a week later,
after exchanging more emails and pictures, we met up
in Barstow and Miss Molly began her new life. The
following was written by Angela of her experience
with Las Vegas Labrador Rescue and adopting Molly.
I first saw Molly on the Petfinder website and
thought she was the most beautiful girl I have
seen. I took the link to the LVLR website and
read her entire story and was really touched at
how sweet she looked for everything she had been
through in her life. Being that she was in Las
Vegas, and I'm in California, I wasn't sure how
I could get her let alone if I even had a
chance. I knew I wanted to rescue but I found
that there weren't alot of labs in the shelters,
and the few that did come up went fast, and I
wanted a playmate for the lab I already have.
Something just kept drawing me back to the LVLR
website and Molly. She was female (I really
wanted another girl around here because I'm the
only one) She was the same age as Quinn, and
loved kids and to swim. I read her updates and
kept looking at her pictures (she is always
smiling!) for a week before I finally got up the
courage to e-mail Lisa and ask about her. I am
so glad I did! Lisa is just wonderful!! I filled
out the application and pending the home
inspection I found out I could adopt her!! Lisa
e-mailed me pictures of her for the week that it
took to finalize everything and on a Sunday
afternoon we met up in Barstow to pick up my
baby girl. I have to say that this experience
has been really positive and heartwarming to me.
She is constantly making me laugh, and my two
boys adore her!! Quinn fell instantly in love
with her as well. She is adjusting beautifully
and loves all the freedom to run, play and
swim!! She has been a gift to me and I am
thankful to Lisa and LVLR for letting me adopt
her and give her the love she deserves!!!
