Rasta had quite the journey to get to his forever home for being so young. This beautiful boy was a stray found by a wonderful couple here in Las Vegas. They took him to the vets to get scanned for a chip and nothing. They put posters up, ads up, and nothing. After 3 weeks of nothing, they contacted us. She warned us that he had a ton of energy and had no manners. She also warned us that his adorable face would win us over no matter what.

Boy was she right! A couple weeks after they contacted us, we have room in our foster homes open up. We met her at the vet and were greeted with 80lbs of slobbering, hyper Labrador. I have to admit, I was a little worried at first.. as he was SO big and to not have any manners at his size would definitely deter people from wanting to adopt.

Our foster home Jill, took him home and within a week, she had fallen completely head over heels in love with this boy. She had trained him in his crate, house trained him and had even started some basic commands.

When we got an email from Trinity and Jess from California, it was just in time. Jill was VERY close to not wanting to let this boy go. Trinity and family checked out AMAZINGLY well and that weekend, we began Rasta's journey home.

Rasta now has a younger brother, Goose that he loves. His family is just as head over heels in love with him as Jill was - and all those worries I had about him being "too much" for someone... well let's just say, they were wasted worries. He fit in from the very first day at his new home.

Trinity has since become a volunteer for LVLR and we couldn't be happier! She has written the following of her experience with adopting Rasta.

Rasta (formerly Luke) caught our eye when Lisa first posted his story on the Lab Board. Though we already had a new lab pup at the time (Goose) so we decided now was just not the right time for a new family member as we had our hands full with the Goosie Man.

A friend of mine was also looking at an LVLR rescue and going through the adoption process….this made the desire for Rasta to come home even stronger and more of a possible reality..

Lisa bumped his thread one day and I saw it, my husband had been asking about him and if he was still available…the answer was yes.

When Jess (my husband) saw that he was still available in an instant with out a spoken word the decision was made that this was fate, this boy was ours. I emailed Lisa and we applied right then.

As soon as we were approved Lisa emailed me to let me know the great news! She also made SURE to tell me EVERY little quark that Rasta had. His high energy, lack of obedience and oh did I mention high energy?

We were worried of course but more then that we were so excited! We drove the 7 hours to meet Lisa and pick up our boy. I could see the worry in her face that he would be too much for us as he had met potential families before and tackled them in his zeal to befriend them only to succeed in turning them off to him….me? I could not wait to have that big lug in my arms, slobber and all.

We were prepared for a big adjustment period and an unruly dog, as it turned out we were way over prepared. He settled right in, fit right in, and settled right down! He loves to play, he loves to love, he loves to be loved and we love to love him.

Sometimes people (and dogs) come into your life and it might not be when you expected it or how you expected it to happen but there they are. Standing their drooling and waiting for you, for your love, compassion and willingness to let them in.

Rasta is part of the family, more so then I could have even dreamed he would be. He is more then trainable, more then loveable and has more heart them most people.

Thank you Lisa for seeing this boys potential and rescuing him, Thank you Jan for fostering this incredible boy and loving him with all of you heart, you are both amazing and you have both changed our lives for ever.

Lots of Love,

Trinity, Jess, Cassandra, Tyler (the humans)

Rasta, Goose and Lexie (the K9s)

Here was Luke, the day the couple found him wandering the streets.

The following pictures were when LVLR got him and Jill was fostering him
