On June 27th, a couple here in Las Vegas, found a little black lab running loose on the streets. They immediately rescued her from the traffic and took her to a vet's office. Unfortunately for her previous owners, she did not have a chip nor a collar with tags on. They drove around looking for posters in the area of someone looking for this sweet girl. By June 29th, they had not seen nor heard anything, and due to already having small dogs and a full house themselves, they could not keep another dog. I was contacted via e-mail and the next day on June 30th, Las Vegas Labrador Rescue went and picked her up.

She immediately went to the vet for her vaccinations and check up. When all checked out well, her foster family took her. I put her information up on our site, and a couple days later, we got an email from Jeff wanting to adopt her. That Wednesday, we met Jeff at a local dog park so he and his 7 year old black lab could meet Riley. After about an hour of them running around and playing and getting to know each other, Jeff decided that he was definitely interested in adopting her. She was scheduled to be spayed on Friday, so her foster family took her home with them until then.

Friday came, her spay and microchipping went wonderfully, and when we picked her up, we took her to her forever home with Jeff.  The following was written by Jeff of his experience in rescuing Riley.

I met Riley for the first time at a dog park near my house.     I brought along my 7yr old black lab named Calvin.   As expected with labs, they got along wonderfully right away, despite the comical difference in size (105lbs to 30lbs!).   After about 5minutes, I had already fallen in love with this sweet girl and decided to adopt her.   How can you not fall in love with a puppy that runs sideways and wags her tail so hard she almost falls over?    I ended up officially taking her two days later, and the wild times began!

She made herself at home immediately, sniffing every corner of my house and yard.    Thankfully, she followed Calvin's lead well and was housebroken within about 5 days.    I have a doggie door and she learned to use that within about 10 seconds after seeing Calvin zip through it.   Now she is in and out every 10 minutes it seems!    I have an in ground pool which she seems to enjoy as well -- she slides up to it on her belly and puts her head over the edge and gets a drink.

I am so excited to have a wonderful new addition to my family, and I know Calvin is happy to have a new playmate as well.     Thank you so much to Lisa and Brenda from Labrador Rescue!!!

Jeff
