Splash's Story -
This
poor guy was given up by his original family because he
was "too much work". A wonderful couple took him in to
prevent them from taking him to the pound.
Unfortunately, it did not work out well with them,
having a lab puppy running around, chewing and being a
typical lab puppy, so they decided to find somewhere
that could help but would still allow him to be safe and
in a home environment.
We got
the email from this couple and a few days later went and
for a few weeks, until we got an email from a wonderful
family in Utah that had been searching for a lab after
the loss of their previous lab. After application and
emailing back and forth for a few days, we decided
pending a home visit, we would adopt Splash to this
family.
That
weekend we loaded up Splash and took him to a small town
in Utah. The home visit went MORE than perfect and we
left Splash with them that day with the utmost
confidence that he was in the home he was meant to be
in.
The
following was written by Splash's new family
Amazing! How can you put
in words about what we now have in our life? We gifted
into our family the incredible Splash. Splash is a
10-month-old Lab that we happened upon with the Las
Vegas Labrador Rescue. We searched many shelters via
the Internet; called many shelters, and we even sought
out a breeder in Virginia. We can’t conceive of finding
a more awesome dog. The process of working with LVLR
was professional and they touched our lives not only
with Splash, but also with their care and what they are
about. We live over 2 hours from Las Vegas and were
blown away that they would come this far to make sure
the dog was coming to a good home.
Each week he has become
more and more a part of our family. We expected that he
would be so hyper and out of control, but he really
adapted well to us. Yeah, we had to go through a period
of getting to understand him and him understand us. But
with a little patience and understanding we have the dog
of our dreams. This is my fourth dog and the second one
we have adopted. We have loved all of our dogs and it
seems that the adopted ones have worked out the best.
Splash is a lot of fun
around the water; I know most labs love the water, but
this dog goes nuts around water. His name sure fits.
Our two-year old says that he “luz” (loves) Splash. Our
older boys play at the nearby creek a lot and the dog
keeps a good eye on them. The neighbor kids love Splash
and he is like a new best friend to everyone he meets.
He is so gentle and loves to give love and be loved.
Anyhow, we could go on and on with pride about Splash.
We wish to express our
THANKS to LVLR and specifically to Lisa, Jason, Becky,
and Lenny for changing our lives and making the trip!!!
